A/R: GHS engages the Clergy on strict enforcement of COVID 19 safety protocols ahead of Christmas

As part of measures to prevent Covid-19 infections from increasing in the Ashanti Region during the Christmas season, the Ashanti Regional Health directorate of Ghana Heath Service (GHS) has today Thursday December 15, 2022, engaged the clergy to discuss ways of observing the protocols amongst citizenry and to celebrate the occasion Without the spread of the pandemic.

The Ashanti Regional Health Director of GHS, Dr. Emmanuel Tenkorang at the engagement said his outfit are determined to prevent Covid spread in this Christmas festivities.

He said they are making sure this Christmas festivities do not result into high number of infections as occurred in the previous years.

The Regional Health Director elaborated that, it became necessary to engage the Clergy in this crucial time as their words carry much weight in their various communities.

He opined that the residents respect the Clergy thus involving them in their dealing to make the observation of the Covid strict protocols in this Christmas a successful one unlike the other occasions where the virus spread.

Dr. Emmanuel Tenkorang disclosed at the program that, the service will ensure their logistics are available anytime to prevent the spread, adding that they will continue to support nurses with the necessary health apparatus in order to be able to reach out to lot of people who need to be vaccinated.

Mrs. Charity Nii-Queye, Officer in charge of Social and Behavior Change at the UNICEF said, they will continue to support Ghana Heath service in anyway.

She said, observing the COVID 19 safety protocols is very important to reducing the virus but said vaccination is key.

She urged Ghanaians to adhere to the protocols.

Mrs. Offeibea also urged the polulace to take advantage of this five days vaccination exercise and get vaccinated including the booster.

Some of the clergy who took part of the meeting expressed their gratitude to the Ghana Health service for taking such initiative.

They pledged their full support to make sure that, they educate their church members to get vaccinated. They also appealed to the GHS to come to their various churches to vaccinate the members.
