A/R: December decleared ccovid19 vaccination month as 1.3 million people vaccinated so far
The Ashanti Regional Health Directorate has declared December as covid 19 moth to educate the populate more about the COVID 19 virus and the important of been vaccinated.
In a press conference today, Monday, 6th December, 2021, the Ashanti Regional Health Director, Dr Emmanuel Tinkorang disclosed that, about 1.3 million people so far have been vaccinated.
According to Dr Tinkorang, they have targeted four million people to be vaccinenated for the COVID 19 vaccines in the region.
“So far, 432,763 people have been fully vaccinated while 965,061 have taken one dose of the vaccine with only six active cases in two district that’s Kumasi metropolis and Obuasi East.
Dr Tinkorang noted that there are enough vaccines to cater for all.
“We have enough vaccines in the system but the challenge we have now is how to get everyone in this region to get vaccinated so we can get the herd immunity that can help us prevent the fourth wave which will probably come within this month or January 2022 since we normally experience different waves every six months.”
Dr Tinkorang also indicated that an intensive campaign will begin in the region to ensure all groups including churches, schools, mosques, clubs to get vaccinated.
“We’re going to start a very intensive campaign here in the Ashanti Region to make sure that we get as many as more than 500,000 of our population vaccinated by the end of the year that is December,” Dr Tinkorang stated.
