Section of Basic School Students of Kumpese / Akwasiso D/A in the Amansie South District of the Ashanti Region sit on bare floor during teaching and learning hours.
These students especially the Kindergarten pupils are compelled to sit on the floor because of inadequate furniture in the school.
The appauling situation has affected activities of both staffs and students in the school.
A visit to the school by a Kumasi based Fox FM’s reporter, Ekuoba Gyasi to bring to light their problem for help, over 150 KG pupils were spotted struggling to get a place to sit. Whiles some patch forcibly on their friends desks, others have to sit on the floor to learn.
Meanwhile, the Junior High School (JHS) students are also facing same challenges. A supposed dual desk contains three and more students.
The teachers admitted that teaching and learning in the midst of this situation have become tougher for them.
The problem in the other way has reduced the Population of the school as some students prefer staying at home than to come to school and sit on the bare floor.
The assembly member for Kumpese, Hon.Ebenezer Owusu adding his bite to the story disclosed that, he has attempted all ways and means to get the problem solve by writing numerous letters to the assembly but it is yet to yield result.
He was quick to added that, their Member of Parliament (MP) is also aware of the problem facing the school but no positive response has prevail.
Furthermore, Hon. Owusu is entreating Government, philanthropist and affluent hands to come to their aid and provide enough chairs for them and other support necessary to cushion the school.
